Barcham realistic over survival

Gillingham winger Andy Barcham says his side are good enough to stay in League One, but will only survive if they play at their best for the last 11 games. The Gills travel to bottom side Stockport on Saturday still without a win away from home, sitting 18th in the table, five points above the drop zone.

"It shows in the way you perform if you feel a nit nervy in a few games," the 23-year-old told BBC Radio Kent.

"But it's the business end of the season and we can't afford to do that."

A year on from Gillingham's promotion-winning season, Barcham added: "The last thing we want is to be heading back to League Two.

We've got to go up there now and hopefully get back-to-back wins that will see us climb higher up the table

"I think everyone knows that and that's what the coaching staff are putting into our heads.

"So we've got to keep going, keep focused because we're good enough to stay away from it.

"Starting a Stockport we definitely need to start winning away from home because it's no good turning over Huddersfield at our home ground and then lose away.

"We've got to go up there now and hopefully get back-to-back wins that will see us climb higher up the table."
