Keeper quandary for Saints
Brackley Town are considering putting an outfield player in goal for the televised FA Cup first-round replay at home to Gillingham.
The Conference North side are without first-choice stopper Billy Turley after the 40-year-old was sent off in the league game against Boston United at the beginning of the month.
Saints had lined up a replacement keeper ahead of the initial tie at Priestfield eight days ago but due to unforeseen circumstances the deal was not completed in time and FA rules state that a player must be eligible for the first game to then be able to play in a replay.
Boss Jon Brady could choose to put Elliot Sandy in goal, who took the gloves when Turley was sent off against Boston, or assistant manager Darren Collins, who has limited goalkeeping experience, is another option.
Midfielder Charlie Lee comes back into contention for Gillingham.
Lee was suspended for Saturday's league win at Sheffield United, where manager Peter Taylor made five changes. Further changes can be expected on Monday night for what will be a second game in three days for the Gills.
Some changes could be enforced with Steven Gregory and Danny Kedwell both coming off injured in the opening 20 minutes at Bramall Lane while Danny Hollands, on loan from Charlton, will not be an option for Taylor as his parent club do not want him cup-tied.
Gillingham needed an equaliser from Bradley Dack in the seventh minute of injury time to spare their blushes and rescue a 1-1 draw at Priestfield.
A trip to Skrill Premier side Macclesfield in round two awaits the winners.
