Concerns mount over Gorman future

Gorman: staying or going?
With growing media speculation suggesting Glenn Hoddle could be about to take the job at West Bromwich Albion, all eyes are on John Gorman, who is working on a non-contract basis at Gillingham.

Should Hoddle get the job at the Hawthorns, Gorman, who has spent a large part of his coaching career as Hoddle’s assistant during spells at Swindon, England and Tottenham, may be persuaded to follow him.

"There's been bits about it in the paper - and you can read what you want and believe what you want in the papers,” said Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler, talking to the official club website.

"But at the moment John's focusing on Sheffield United for us. He's loving the job, is really enjoying his time here and has not spoken to me about the situation.

"If he came to me or went to the chairman and said he's desire is to go with Glenn then the chairman wouldn't stand in his way.

"I'd be saddened because I think he's been fantastic since he's been here, but as I say, at the moment he is with us, is working hard, is positive and looking forward to the game at the weekend. If anything changes, then so be it.

"We may know something by the weekend, but I'm not really thinking about that.

"I'm just thinking about ourselves as I'm sure John is as well. If anything changes I'm sure we'll be told."

Gills chairman Paul Scally seems none the wiser about the situation either. Talking to the official club website, he said, "I will obviously try and talk him into staying, but if he feels it is what he wants to do I will respect that and wish him well.

"John is enjoying himself with us and may not want to follow in Hoddle's footsteps again."
