Cooper pleased with progress

Cooper: His 'rebuilding job' is going well
"This display was much better than previous games and is what I'm looking for," he told BBC Radio Kent.

"After the Cambridge match we needed to improve, and this was 100% better.

"It takes time to gel as a unit. I'm involved in a rebuilding job and I'm pleased with the performance and the way we went about it."

Both of Gillingham's strikers were on the scoresheet as Darius Henderson netted a free kick and Darren Byfield slammed in a second as Gillingham took a two-goal lead, but Millwall came back into the game and a brace from Barry Hayles meant the match ended in a draw.

Cooper's thoughts now turn to the weekend - and his first managerial test at Priestfield, as he prepares his side to face Barnet in their final pre-season game before the season curtain-raiser against Colchester.
