Could Gills relegate Vale?

Last updated : 23 March 2008 By Simon Head
Vale have had a torrid season and currently sit 17 points from League One safety with just 21 points left to play for, meaning only a foootballing miracle can save the Burslem-based club.

The Valiants, managed by Lee Sinnott, have the worst recent form in the division, having taken just four points from a possible 24 in their last eight games.

But with relegation a matter of "when" rather than "if" for the Potteries side, Vale are sure to put in a battling performance against Gillingham this Monday afternoon.

Whether the Gills follow Vale down into League Two next season may hinge on Mark Stimson's side's performances over the next couple of weeks. Garnering points on their travels, starting this Monday, would certainly help.
