Crofts set to miss crucial Gills matches

Wales boss John Toshack has named Crofts in his senior squad for the friendly with Luxembourg on March 26, meaning if the Gills captain travels with the Welsh party, he wil miss the club's crucial away clash with Port Vale on Easter Monday.

Crofts would only return a day before the Gills' following, equally-important, match home game with Carlisle United.

Gills manager Mark Stimson is hopeful that his captain may be released from the squad to help get the Gills out of relegation trouble.

Talking to the Kent On Sunday, he said: "We can't have total control over the situation, but I'm sure if we needed him for our cause, which is bigger than Wales', then I think people could get together and have a chat and come up with a sensible answer."

Considering the lack of importance of Wales' match, as well as the situation Gillingham currently find themselves in, fans would expect their captain to show his loyalty to the club in their hour of need, but the decision will need to be taken between the player, the club and the Football Association of Wales.

We'll report on developments as they happen.
