Gillingham goalkeeper Lance Cronin says keeping a clean sheet against Burton was the ideal way to recover from his critical error the week before.Cronin was blamed for Gills' injury-time defeat at Bradford, when he was out-jumped for the game's only goal.
"It was tough to take after the Bradford game," he told BBC Radio Kent.
"The boss had his say, and I admitted I had to do better. I bounced back, and a couple of useful saves and a clean sheet was just what I needed."
Gillingham beat Burton Albion 1-0 in the 25 year-old's sixth competitive start for the side. He was preferred to Alan Julian, who was still recovering from a hand injury.
"If you can't take criticism, you shouldn't be playing. I'm one of those people who will admit it if they've made a mistake," said Cronin.
"The gaffer (Andy Hessenthaler) has been good to me, he said I had to improve, but he gives out praise when you do well."
Julian started the season as Gills' first choice goalkeeper, but dropped out of the side when he was diagnosed with a fracture in his hand.
"Alan's back in training now, we're good friends and there's healthy competition between the two of us," Cronin said.
