Flynn: I want promotion

Flynn: aiming high
Talking to BBC Radio Kent this weekend, the skipper said, "If I said I was just aiming for safety, that's not me at all. I aiming to go straight up.

"The manager does not go into things half-heartedly and neither do the boys. I do not want to get into the play-offs but want automatic promotion."

Bold words from the Gills skipper, and encouraging ones to hear, too. With the division as competitive as ever, a solid run of form could certainly put the Gills in contention for a top six position.

However, whether the current squad is quite strong enough in depth to mount a season-long promotion charge remains to be seen.
