Flynn: Midfield solution?
An attack-minded midfielder, Flynn has seen his first team opportunities limited at the JJB Stadium since his move from Barry Town - and Wigan are understood to be happy to let him go.

According to the Kent Messenger, the Welshman is believed to have agreed personal terms with Gillingham this week and will sign in time to feature in Gillingham's weekend match at Watford.

Talking to Wigan's official website last month, Latics manager Paul Jewell said, "Flynnie has done great this season and I thought he did well again as a substitute at Rotherham on Saturday. He's probably been really unlucky not to have had a run in the side yet, but he keeps on knocking on the door and is certainly pushing his case to have one. He's always been enthusiastic, everyone knows that, but what people do tend to forget is that he's a very good footballer too.

"He's got stronger and quicker this season and the extra work he has been putting is really making a difference. I think the loan spell at Blackpool also did wonders for his confidence and belief too.

"He always gives us everything he has got and no matter what position you asked him to play, he'd do the best job he possibly could for you. He's the sort of character that, if you asked him to run for a wall, he'd want to know how many times and you can't have enough of that type of person at your club.

"On the football side of things he's a also a little different because he makes some great runs forward from midfield and is likely to get his fair share of goals. He's been gradually getting better and better and I'm very pleased with his progress. He's out of contract in the summer as are a few other lads but, with the effort he puts in each and every day he is saying to me; 'Give me a new contract', and that is great credit to him and shows the type of determination he has."

Clearly, Flynn is a very enthusiastic and committed professional, with no little ability. Should we manage to secure his services, Stan may well have picked up a bargain.

We'll report any further developments on this situation right here on Gills365.
