FOGFC fundraising continues

Collecting for their 'Sign A Striker' fund, the FOGFC have raised well over £7,000 to date, with money still to be counted to add to that figure - and with the January transfer window providing Ronnie Jepson with the opportunity to bring new players to the club, the fans can really make a difference by contributing to the 'Sign A Striker' collections at the two forthcoming matches.

While there hasn't been any incoming player movement as yet, the club are beginning to trim their squad in order to allow for some new faces to come in. So far, fullback Tom Williams, loanee Paul Smith, midfielder Mark Saunders, goalkeeper Tony Bullock have gone, and Steve Hislop is on the verge of a move away from Priestfield too. This may well mean that there is scope to bring in a new face or two - and the 'Sign A Striker' fund may be called into action before the end of January as Ronnie Jepson looks to strengthen for the end-of-season run in.

Keep your eyes peeled for the bucket-carriers dotted around Priestfield on matchdays, and give what you can.

It's important to reiterate that any money you contribute to the FOGFC Sign A Striker fund will be used for the signing of a new player ONLY. The money does not belong to GFC and therefore is not an income that can be called upon by the club's creditors, such as the bank. The money is held in a charitable trust and is collected and donated for a pre-specified purpose, and that is team strengthening.

In short, that means if you put money into a FOGFC bucket, you are DIRECTLY contributing to the signing of a new player for Gillingham FC.

Back in the early nineties, the Gills support raised the funds to buy Leo Fortune West, and he proved a huge hit with the fans. The hope is we can repeat the feat, using the FOGFC Sign A Striker campaign.
