Martin Allen made the decision to appoint Junior, who played under him while at Brentford last season, but was released by the London club over the summer.
Allen told the MK Dons official website, "Junior has no coaching badges but he has a wealth of experience.
"He is coming to the end of his career and I am giving him the opportunity to go in a different direction."
