"He only started one game during his time here and we really needed to see more from than he showed us," said Gills' boss Andy Hessenthaler.
"I understand he has a club lined up back in France."
He added: "That's good for him because he will be closer to his family.
"Finances also played a part because we have Andy Barcham coming back from injury and he is a strong contender for the shirt on the left side of midfield.
"He always trained and played with a smile on his face. We'll keep an eye on him, see how he progresses and maybe he could be one to bring back at some point in the future."
