Gillingham look to pay off Miller

Gills boss Mark Stimson says Miller has dropped down the club's pecking order.

"He's not in the starting plans but he might get on the bench. If we can pay him off it might free up some money to get someone else in," he said.

"That area of the pitch we've got a lot of bodies, Payne, Maher, Tuks (Rashid Yussuff), Lewis, Weston and Danny Jackman's coming back. That's six players for those two or three positions."

"He could go out on loan, and his agents are in negotiation with the chairman about a pay-off, but we will wait and see. He's only got until the end of the season."

Stimson also said he was surprised that Dagenham did not sign Miller permanently for financial reasons.

"They said something about finances but the next day they signed a player on loan from Portsmouth and they're retaining someone from Chelsea.

"I'm confused. If he's doing that well why not retain him? If you haven't got the finance don't get another midfielder in the next day."
