The Gills striker was sentenced to 18 months in prison for being in possession of a stolen BMW.
Scally said he had spoken to King's father a number of times over the weekend and discussed how the club might assist the player's appeal against his prison sentence.
"We are approaching Marlon's legal team through his father and have said we will help in any way we can," Scally told the club's official website.
"There will definitely be an appeal against the severity of the sentence."
