Accrington will hand a late fitness test to midfielder Charlie Barnett, who missed the midweek win against Stockport with an ankle problem.
Defender Leam Richardson (groin) remains sidelined, while striker Rory Boulding completes a three-match ban.
Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler told BBC Radio Kent: "It's going to be an interesting game, Accrington are on a good run and still have a chance of getting into the play-offs.
"We lost 7-4 at Accrington earlier in the season and no one saw it coming - we went missing that day, but we're a different animal now.
"We've gone back to a 4-4-2 formation for the last couple of games, and that's seen us get four points, but we may have to look at that if Adebayo Akinfenwa isn't fit for the weekend."
