Gills come unstuck at Bromley

Gillingham went down 2-1 in their opening pre-season friendly against Bromley at Hayes Lane. Blue Square Bet South side Bromley broke the deadlock in the 66th minute when Nic McDonnell robbed Conner Essam on the edge of the box and fired a low shot into the far corner. Bromley extended their lead seven minutes later when Jon Scarborough lashed home a right-footed volley following a deep free-kick to the far post. Andy Hessenthaler's Gillingham pulled a goal back in the 78th minute after good work down the left by Andy Barcham, who crossed for striker Fola Onibuje to head firmly home.
