Darren Byfield: Set to face Gills sooner rather than later

The draw for the Carling Cup took place this lunchtime and Gillingham were given a tough away trip to the New Den to face their regular rivals Millwall.

The match will take on extra interest due to the summer transfer activity involving the two clubs. The Lions signed both Gavin Grant and Darren Byfield in the close-season, and they could both figure against the Gills in the first-round Carling Cup match.

The match is due to be played in the week commencing August 21
