Scally: Has been looking for a new CEO for a while now
After a difficult couple of seasons, Scally, who will now concentrate on the club's forthcoming move to a new stadium and team strengthening, has appointed Hover to take over the day-to-day running of the footbaIl club from September 1st onwards.

Talking about the latest new arrival at Priestfield, Scally said, "We had talks and I am delighted to make this appointment today. It's a massive signing for the football club as it allows us to move forward and gives us more strength.

"Graham has a wealth of footbaIl knowledge and is very experienced in the type of business we are operating.

"I have been looking to bring someone in to take some of the load off of me for a long time. Graham will help run the day-to-day business of the club, and take it onwards and upwards.

Talking about the new emphasis in his own role, Scally explained, "The new stadium is the most significant development that we need to make if we are to take the club to a different level.

"My responsibilities will be for the new stadium and to look after the team. In all other senses, Graham will look after the club, and make sure it is performing properly."

Graham Hover is enthusiastic about his new role at Gillingham after over 20 years at Coventry, saying, "Paul approached me and I saw it as a great opportunity and a new challenge for myself.

"I know a lot about the club, as I was born in the county. Kent is a huge catchment area and if Paul can get on and get the new stadium built, then this club can move forward.

"It is a very important role that I have undertaken. Off the field activities are very important to any footbaIl club as you cannot solely rely on what happens on the pitch, and the supporters coming through the turnstiles."
