Shipperley: set to follow in his father's footsteps?
Shipperley, 32, has had a nomadic career spent at eight clubs spanning a 15-year career - and after his release from Sheffield United earlier this week he held talks with Gillingham yesterday, according to The Mirror.

The big striker has averaged better than a goal every four games throughout his career - and most recently was a key player in the Sheffield United side that won promotion to the Premiership last season.

His qualities as a strong target man, plus his experience at Championship and Premiership level could appeal to Gills manager Ronnie Jepson (himself a former target man) and a deal may well be struck to bring the Chatham-born striker back home to Kent.

The name Shipperley is one that will be well known to older gills fans, as his father, Dave Shipperley was a cult hero for the Gills back in the mid-seventies. To read more about Dave Shipperley, click here
