Gills looking to continue 'table-topping' home form

Priestfield: A fortress once again?
Stan Ternent has turned around the Gills' home form since his arrival - and this can be seen from the results gained in our last six home matches.

The Gills' last six home games have seen an upturn in the Gills' form - and the last five home games were under Ternent's stewardship.

Wins against Nottingham Forest (under John Gorman), Rotherham United, Coventry City and Plymouth Argyle, plus draws against Reading and Millwall, have put the Gills at the top of the home form table, ahead of Sunderland, Ipswich and a resurgent Cardiff.

However, just like the Gills, Cardiff's attempts to pull away from the relegation zone have been hampered by some abysmal away form. With two very tough-looking home fixtures next up for the Gills, it is imperative that we get a decent return from them to prevent us from falling further behind in the race for survival.

The first important home game comes tonight, when West Ham come to Priestfield. Then the Gills face an ever sterner test when Paul Jewell's impressive Wigan side travel down to Kent. How the team performs in these two matches could decide the fate of our season.
