Gillingham assistant manager Scott Barrett has said his club has nothing to fear from the relegation run-in as long as they maintain their form. The Gills' 3-0 victory over Southend moved them up to 18th but Barrett told BBC Radio Kent: "Things are so tight that one defeat can put you in trouble.
"But we have nothing to fear if we maintain the kind of form we showed in the second half against Southend."
Relegation-haunted Gillingham have yet to win on the road this season.
Gill's Garry Richards, 23, was part of the side powered to a 3-0 victory over his former club, Southend, increasing the Shrimpers' own relegation fears.
The central defender told BBC Radio Kent: He said: "We need to keep clean sheets because they can be the key to survival. You always get strange results at this stage of the season."
