Gills net Shrimpers pair
Mark Bentley is a player who Gills fans should remember well. His brace against the Gills at Priestfield last season helped the Shrimpers to a 2-1 win over the Gills - and he is considered to be a hard-working box-to-box midfielder who can weigh in with the odd goal.

Talking to the Southend official website, Shrimpers boss Steve Tilson explained, "Mark and Duncan have opted for more security and decided to sign for Gillingham which is their choice. said Tilson.
"We couldn't guarantee either of them that they were going to play enough football in the Championship.
"A move to Gillingham will offer them 40 plus matches next season and we couldn't guarantee them that.
"It's refreshing to see two players move because they want to play games and no other reason.
"Both players have been fantastic servants for us over the past two seasons and I wish them all the best for future."
Both players rejected new deals with the Shrimpers in order to join Ronnie Jepson's new-look Gills side for the coming season. The new pair are both reported to have signed two-year deals with the Gills.
