Chorley's arrival means Ronnie Jepson will soon be able to field a stronger back four in future matches, especially with the iminent return from injury of Brent Sancho.

The 24-year old centre half has received rave reviews at MK Dons and has long been mooted as a possible defensive target by Gills fans. Indeed, it was believed the club failed in a bid to secure Chorley on a permanent contract over the summer.

The six-foot-three defender will go straight into the squad for Gillingham's weekend match against Carlisle United, and will remain with the Gills until January 6th, 2007.
