Hessenthaler: Reunion with former boss Peter taylor
Hessenthaler joins up with his former boss Peter Taylor to help the Tigers' promotion push - and pick up some more first-team football.

Talking to the official Gills site, chairman Paul Scally said, "It's an opportunity for Andy and one he wants to explore - and we fully support his decision. He will still be training here and is still very much behind us."

"I know Andy well and I know what he's capable of," said Hull manager Peter Taylor.

"Hess will be here for three months but Gillingham have the option of a call-back after a month if they choose to do so.

"It's been a difficult time for Andy what with him being the manager there and now back with playing staff. He'll add a bit extra to our midfield and also has the experience - and is still determined - to do a job at this level.

"Andy will be here as a player for the time being and will not be taking a role in the coaching side of things."

Talking to BBC Radio Kent, Hessenthaler said, "Peter just felt my experience might give them a lift and might help push them to the end.

"It's an opportunity to get back with Peter, who I respect as a person and a manager.

"Also, with me off the wage bill here it might help the new man get a player in to push us on as well.

"I'm going to go up there and play a few games and see what happens. It is a sad day, but I've got to think about Andy Hessenthaler as well."

Hess could make his Hull debut in their match with Chesterfield next week.

With Danny Spiller, Mark Saunders and Matty Jarvis all injured, Hessenthaler's departure further reduces Stan Ternent's options in midfield. But perhaps the move is a sign of an iminent loan signing or two. We'll report any developments right here on Gills365.
