Honourable Robinson calls it a day

Robinson: retired from the game
Robinson, who suffered hamstring injuries during his short time at Gillingham, felt that he wasn't able to give 100% to the cause and, after discussions with his former manager Lennie Lawrence, decided to end his career.

Talking to the BBC in Wales, Robinson said, "I knew that I wasn't 100% committed to the cause, so I didn't want to sit back for six weeks and collect my money, it would have been unfair to the club.

"It wasn't a snap decision, I thought about it and spoke to people I respect in the game like Lennie Lawrence."

Gills chairman Paul Scally told the official website, "John had injuries, and could have sat here for one more month and taken his wages.

"He thought it was wrong to take money from the club, so his contract has been cancelled but I respect his honesty."

John was a respected pro who sadly wasn't able to bring his abilities to the fore at Gillingham due to injuries, but we at Gills365 wish him the best in whatever he decided to pursue in his future career.
