Jackman: Adds balance to the squad
Jackman, who can operate at left fullback or wide on the left of midfield, has signed a two-year contract at Priestfield and is hoping to break into the Gills first team.

His arrival is the second outfield signing made by Neale Cooper - and the second left-sided player. We now have two players who are comfortable in both wide left positions - which brings added balance to the squad in the build up to the new season.

Jackman started his career as a trainee with Aston Villa before a £70,000 move to Edgeley Park. He played the majority of games for Stockport as a left back - and following a trial with the Gills he impressed Neale Cooper sufficiently enough to earn a contract offer from the club.

Last season he was tracked by a number of clubs, including Bournemouth and, perhaps most notably, Yeovil, who nearly signed Jackman on transfer deadline day last season. Gary Johnson's sides are renowned for playing good football and having players in all positions who are comfortable in possession, so it would be fair to assume young Danny is a good player on the ball.

We wish Danny all the best as he starts his Gills career.
