Docherty: Should help Ronnie toughen up the Gills

Docherty has joined the club as assistant manager on a temporary basis - is described by the official website as a 'consultant'.

Docherty was renowned as a very hard player during his career, when he plied his trade with Burnley, Manchester City and Sunderland.

He then joined the Sunderland coaching staff before joining Burnley. He teamed up with Stan Ternent shortly after at Hull, before returning to Turf Moor when Ternent moved to Burnley later in his career.

His arrival should help Ronnie take charge of the players and sort out those who are no longer required at the club.
