The striker, on loan from Sheffield Utd, is yet to start a game for his current permanent club.
Mulligan, 20 years young, said, "I've had loan spells before at Rushden and Port Vale and here is the best of the loan clubs I've been at.
"I've been made to feel really welcome by the management and staff and I've found that it's a really nice family club.
"I'm going to see what comes up in the summer and it (a move to the Gills) could well be an option."
The young Irishman netted his first goal for the Gills on Saturday against Huddersfield and has already become a fans favourite because of his work ethic. Mulligan has made 9 appearances for the Gills, scoring 1 goal.
