Nosworthy: Moves to the Stadium of Light
Nosworthy, who played the majority of his Gills career at right back, was asked to stay by new Gills boss Neale Cooper, but the product of Gillingham's youth scheme rejected the offer and has signed for Mick McCarthy instead.

The Sunderland boss led his side to the Championship title last season on the back of a number of signings from the lower leagues - and Nosworthy's signing continues this trend. Nyron will battle with former Liverpool fullback Stephen Wright for the right back spot in Sunderland's starting lineup.

Talking to the press after securing Nosworthy's signing, Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy said, "We're delighted to have signed Nyron, who joins the club as an experienced defender, despite his relatively young age.

"I'm sure he will provide Stephen Wright with strong competition for the right-back berth next season."

Nosworthy said, "It feels very nice to be here and means a lot. I'm quite calm at the moment. It hasn't sunk in that I'm a Premier League player!

"When I'm introduced to the rest of the lads next month it will be different, but I'm looking forward to it.

Nyron's departure has been met with mixed reactions from the Gills fans. Most will wish him the best of luck, but many of those same fans also feel that his performances for the club last season were that of a distracted player - and demonstrated a lack of focus on his job for the team.

A player of raw ability, Nosworthy will experience a steep learning curve in English football's top division - and Gills fans will be sure to follow Nyron's progress closely in the Premiership next season.
