Patience key for fit again King

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler says fit again defender Simon King will have to be patient and work hard to break into a winning team. After 18 months out with an ankle injury, King, the Gills' player of the season in 2008/9, has been on the bench for the last four games but not played.

Hessenthaler told BBC Radio Kent: "When the players are doing well it's difficult to change the team."

Gillingham have won five of their last six games.

Hessenthaler added: "The two boys - Matt (Lawrence) and Josh (Gowling) - have done well, they haven't done too much wrong.

"Simon has just got to keep working hard on the training ground like he's doing.

"He still feels like he needs another run-out but I'm sure he'll get his time.

"It's healthy that we've got that competition for places. But I'm sure he'll get his time at some stage."
