Return of the Sancho

Guess who's back?
Sancho defied club orders and went off on international duty with Trinidad & Tobago for their crucial WorId Cup playoffs with Bahrain - and an incensed Gills chairman Paul Scally reacted by saying that the dreadlocked centre half would never play for the club again.

But news coming out of the club today has confirmed that Sancho, Scally and manager Ronnie Jepson have had a meeting, where Sancho has apologised and re-affirmed his commitment to the club, and in turn, Scally has acquiesced and allowed Sancho to return to the fold.

The Gills number five will now be available for selection for all future squads - and if fully fit, which we believe he is, he may well feature in this weekend's League One match against Port Vale at Priestfield.

In his relatively short time at the club so far, Sancho has already become something of a cult hero with the Gills fans, and news of his return will be a huge fillip to the Gills supporters who were frustrated at seeing one of our most talented players seemingly frozen out.

With Leon Johnson suspended and Chris Hope out injured, the return of Sancho couldn't have come at a better time - and hopefully with all parties putting their differences behind them, we can look forward to another good result on Saturday.

With Sancho available at 40/1 to score the first and/or last goal on Saturday, and 12/1 to score at any time (all with Bet365/Gillsbet), some fans might be tempted to have a little flutter on a Sancho goal this weekend. He scored in his last 90-minute appearance, heading the winner against Chesterfield in the dying minutes. Could he return with a goal this weekend?

Stranger things have happened...
