Roberts: Set for U's move?

Iwan was on loan at Cambridge at the end of last season, but was unable to help keep them up, as they fell from the Football League to the Football Conference.

The U's are currently administration and are not permitted to offer contracts to players while they are in that situation, and the club only has four professionals on their books after having to release most of their players at the end of the season.

Despite the club's financial situation, current caretaker manager Rob Newman has gone on record as saying he'd like Iwan to join them for next season.

"I spoke to Robbo on Wednesday. He's spoken to the manager at Gillingham and gone into pre-season training with them," Newman told his club's website.

"He's keen, but I think it's a case of 'watch this space' with him."
