| Royce: completes Gillingham's new-look defensive unit |

Royce impressed during his loan spell towards the end of last season - and had been training with the Gills throughout the summer in an attempt to seal a permanent deal.
Royce brings yet more experience to the Gills' defensive unit, with the goalkeeper having played just a few games short of 300 career appearances so far in his 17-year career.
Now 35 years old, Royce still has plenty of hunger for the game - and will be a steadying influence on the team following last season, where the Gills were forced to field a plethora of different goalkeepers due to the persistent absence of Trinidad & Tobago international Kelvin Jack.
It represents another key signing for Gills manager Ronnie Jepson, who told the official website: "Simon is a highly experienced keeper and I'm delighted to bring him to the club on a permanent basis. He did a good job for us in his loan spell last season and I'm sure he will prove a great acquisition."
We welcome Simon to Priestfield and hope he helps us to many clean sheets throughout the coming season.
