Sancho in limbo after loan collapse

Sancho: Fan favourite frozen out at Priestfield
Sancho had been poised to join the Swans on loan, but reports of work permit problems and it appears Swansea have changed their mind, leaving Scally furious with the Welsh club.

"We had agreed a deal with Swansea yesterday that would have seen Brent join them on loan," Scally told the official Gillingham website this afternoon.

"But they now want to renege on that deal and quite frankly I'm furious with them for not honouring their word, and Brent will be returning to Gillingham with immediate effect.

"We will not get caught out again in any further dealings with them."

Sancho, who had been made to train with the youth team prior to his talks with Swansea, is now back at the club, and must be wondering where he goes from here. The fans are confused and bewildered as to why Sancho isn't a regular in the team, while the player himself can see his dream of playing in the World Cup slipping away with every missed match.

With the form (or lack of it) being shown by many of our defensive players of late, surely there is a place for Brent Sancho in the Gills squad. Many fans believe he should be starting at centre half alongside either Ian Cox or Leon Johnson - and are curious to know why this situation has developed.

However it did happen, fans will be hoping for a resolution to the problem as soon as possible, as we need defenders like Sancho if we're to help pull clear of the basement in League One.
