Savage: enthusiasm and work-rate have earned him plaudits since breaking into the side
Speaking after the Gills' 2-0 win over Tranmere Rovers at Priestfield on Friday night, Jepson revealed the big striker, formerly of Reading and Bristol City, has been offered an extended deal.

"Bas has got a contract on the table until the end of the season so hopefully he will be signing that," said the Gills boss.

Savage has been at the club on a short-term contract basis thus far, but he has notably improved with each game - and is clearly relishing the chance to play first-team football, forming a strong hard-working partnership with strike partner Gary Mulligan.

The club are hopeful that Savage will sign the contract and continue to improve as the Gills enter the final third of the League One season.
