Scally backing Hessenthaler

The Gills could only manage a home draw with struggling Stoke City last Saturday, but Scally says Hessenthaler's position is safe.

"If I get to a stage ever where I have to contemplate sacking Andy because of pressure, then it's time for me to hang up my boots as well," Scally told BBC Radio Kent.

"I think he's the best thing Gillingham Football Club has got in so far as commitment and loyalty.

"He's a good coach and he knows his players. Andy epitomises all that's right about a football manager."
