Smith: Walking away from Priestfield?
The skipper has reportedly rejected a deal that the club describes as 'excellent' and has instead chosen to walk away from the club where he plyed his trade for six seasons.

If true, it spells the end of a long career at Priestfield for the 33-year-old midfielder.

In a six-year career at Priestfield, Smith made 267 starts for the Gills plus 6 as a substitute, scoring 13 goals and picking up 16 bookings along the way.

Many fans feel Smith's best years are now behind him, but if the rumours of his departures are true, the vast majority will thank him for eight years of sterling service to the club during some of the most successful seasons in the club's history.
