Smith: Could team up with former colleague Iffy Onuora at Swindon
Smith is currently a free-agent after failing to impress on his return to the club on loan - and in a messy parting of the ways, Smith has been left out of contract after previously agreeing to terminate his 18 month deal at Walsall.

But his former teammate Onuora could come to the rescue with a deal that would enable Smith to continue his professional career.

Talking to the official Swindon website, Iffy said, "Paul Smith is someone who I have spoken to, a few weeks ago in fact when he first made it known that things weren't going to work out at Gillingham.

"I may be speaking to him again but I am battling on a few fronts so to speak, and I am aware that we need a striker as well."

It could be the start of a very interesting couple of weeks. Should Smith make a move to the County Ground, he could find himself lining up against his former club in one of his first home matches for the Robins.
