Gallacher, currently third-choice keeper at Norwich, joins the club and goes straight into the side for this weekend's match at Wigan.

The move is subject to a 24-hour release clause, in case of a keeper crisis back at Carrow Road.

After news of his move broke, Gallacher told the press, "This is an opportunity I've got to take to get first-team football. I'm looking forward to doing a job for Gillingham."

Norwich manager Nigel Worthington welcomed the move, telling the local press,  "It's a nice opportunity for Paul to have some first team football."

"He has worked hard since he arrived here, although his opportunities have been limited. It's good for him and it's good for us in that we have agreed a 24-hour recall if required."
