Tommy: Now cutting it as a Blade
Johnson, who agreed a contract settlement with the Gills, was a man in demand, with Wycombe Wanderers and former club Notts County reportedly in the frame to offer him new deals, but he opted to continue in the Championship by signing for Neil Warnock at Sheffield United.

Warnock, who's known to enjoy signing strikers, was typically pleased with his latest capture, though he stressed that Tommy had been signed "primarily as a coach."

Talking to the press, Warnock said, "We've signed Tommy until the end of the season to help out with coaching the forwards. I wanted a new face on the training ground to freshen things up a bit and he's got all the experience you need.

"He's not finished as a player, he'll be playing as well, but we've brought him in primarily as a coach."

After an injury-ridden stint at Priestfield Stadium, Tommy will be hoping to make an impression at the Blades, both as a player and a coach, while managing to stay fit.
