Cooper: Not happy with Gills' performance
"It was a nightmare. I am obviously disappointed at today's performance. I have said how well the boys have done for me so far, but that was just not good enough. They have been training excellently but today, I just could not put my finger on it. We started the game quite bright, and then bang, we have given away a poor goal.

"They just seemed deflated today, and that is not like them. Too many players under performed and there were only pass marks for one or two of them. We didn't deserve to get anything from the game with the way that we played. We could have though when we got it back to 2-1. They have been excellent so far, and sometimes, you get this."

Talking about the performance of new signing Steve Hislop, Cooper said, "He was out of touch a bit at times. He showed one or two good touches, but welcome to League One. This is a new division for him and he has only had two training sessions. He'll do well and he'll get sorted and get into the game.

"We have to pick ourselves up for a big game and we will, as we are in for training tomorrow, for a very hard game at Brentford. We need to get something from it. I apologise to the fans for the performance, as that is not how I want to see it, and I'm sure it is not what they want to see. I know they let them down, and it is up to us to put things right against Brentford.

"We'll have a look tomorrow, and see how Alan Pouton and Danny Spiller are, as I can change a few things. We need to go there and be strong."
