Stimson encouraged by Gills
"The performance was a lot better than Saturday but unfortunately, we didn't take anything from the game," Stimson told the official Gillingham FC website.
"We played against a very good side in Doncaster Rovers and I am sure that come the end of the season, they'll get what they want and get promotion to the Championship. They are a top side, who pop the ball around with a lot of movement and they have got a lot of good players at this level. With five minutes to go, they are running into the corners trying to keep the ball and run down the clock. That tells you something. I said to the players to learn from that; a team going for promotion running down the clock.
"We have to make sure that we take this performance into our final ten games. I am sure if we do that, we'll get a decision and a bit of luck. Doncaster scored two goals but they were both decisions that shouldn't have stood.
"Their lad was offside when he received the ball for the first goal. That was quite disappointing. The second goal, we're a distance away but how the ref gave handball when two guys are competing, the big lad from Doncaster and our centre-half, is hard to take on the chin. You have to though and full credit to the players after as they gave us absolutely everything. We got a goal back through Andrew Crofts but we just didn't get that clear strike at the goal to get an equaliser. Like I said, we have got to take this performance into the next ten games and if we do, we will get the points required to be in this division next season.
"I am a lot happier than Saturday, much happier. The team performed against Doncaster and that is all we ask them to do; come to work, perform and give your best. They did that in every department and I couldn't fault one of them."
