Stimson happy with improvement

Talking to the club's official website, Stimson said: "I'm a lot happier this Saturday both with the performance and the result. The result was very good and the performance in the second-half was a lot better than the performance in the first-half.

"Danny Cullip has come in and he was a massive plus for us today and he has been all week with his experience and banter. The boys who put the shirt on today, they gave their all and that was important.

"This was a massive improvement on last week. Last week wasn't good enough for this football club and there were certain players who let themselves down. This week we have been helped by Danny Cullip coming in as he brings a lot of experience and leads by example. Most of all, he is up for the challenge and this little dogfight that we are in at the moment. He enjoys these games and at the end, you could see that he enjoyed that win as much as anybody.

"It was a good victory and we needed a victory to calm a few people down, especially at home because you could sense the crowd today, as I said earlier this week, were 50/50. 2,500 were with me and 2,500 were against me. I understand that and it was important today that we got a nice win in front of them. In the second-half, we played some half-decent football and I am sure they appreciated it at times. We were getting the ball into the box but weren't getting on the end of it.

"We asked the players at half-time to show a bit more composure and not be frightened of the ball so as to get rid of it straight away. Take a touch and by doing that, hopefully the opposition would come towards us and we could play around them. I think Andrew Crofts did well in that area in the second-half. He got a lot of the ball and used it really well and that led to other things. Delroy Facey and Leroy Griffiths came on and they showed what they are; pace and power with a bit of physical strength. Those two did well.

"I think we deserved the win overall. I think his (Andy Ritchie's) comments are very harsh. The way Huddersfield set out in the first twenty minutes was to waste a lot of time and see the game out to go home with a point. Sometimes you do that. To be fair, I don't think I have ever done that in my life because I think it always backfires on you. It backfired on them today and every opportunity one of their players had to go down, they went down. The physio hardly came on but they still went down for a few seconds to try and kill the game. That is a bit harsh from Andy Ritchie but he has got his views. It is a nice six points to take off Huddersfield Town this year. It is not going to happen a lot this year because of our away form but it was important we got those three points today."
