Gills365 League Review: Division Two - Week 5

Last updated : 02 February 2007 By Guffie
Deano keeps his 100% record going this week after beating JFC s half-hearted attempt 4-2. JFC now finds himself heading down towards those murky depths at the foot of the table that he knows so well.

Deano may be top of the table but is being hotly pursued by Franky (what's going on there?) who remains unbeaten after a close game with Fommt. Franky won 3-4 but you have to feel a little sorry for Fommt because in three out of his four defeats in this league he has only been beaten by one goal. But having said that perhaps we shouldn't feel too sorry for him as he is still the only person to have been beaten by JFC. Sorry to keep bringing that up but until JFC beats someone else I'm afraid you are an easy target.

The only other person with an unbeaten record is Gills 21st who gave NWBluesFan a hiding on his own soil beating him 0-4. I don't suppose it would have helped with NWB turning up late (apparently some kids nicked the wheels off the team coach) with his predictions but even had he been on time he would have still lost 2-4.

Another player with late predictions was Davefromkent who was going for a personal best of predicting three weeks running. Almost made it Dave. This gave Wilfred_h an easy 5-0 victory and an easy three points. Had Dave's predictions counted he would still have lost 5-4. Mind you Wilf's home form is a a bit too good for most teams at the moment. Pity he can't transfer that to his away performances.

The result of the day has to go to Birl who gave Welease Woderwick a 7-4 tanking this week. This moves Birl up to 5th place but the emphasis must really be on Woders to get his away form sorted out as he has only won on his travels once all season.

Spitfire actually had a team turn up against him this week and he still managed a 5-4 victory. But then he was only playing Grumpy so maybe next week's match against Gaz will be a proper test. Grumps has now lost his last three games. His form is following the first half of the season, started poorly and went downhill from there.

Kezz's season seems to be falling apart at the moment as she was beaten 1-3 at home by Gaz86 this week. Swallow your pride Kezz, get the assistant manager in to give you a hand.

Last Waltz had failed to make a prediction in his last three games but he must have felt he had a good chance against cmc42 who hadn't scored a goal in her last two games. It ended in a dull 3-3 draw leaving both players floundering at the foot of the table. (But at least you managed three goals cmc.) Both players are still looking for their first wins in this league.

They are only kept off the bottom by ' Mr. No Show' Akinbiyi. He once again failed to predict and so allowed Elsie an easy 2-0 home win. Elsie will have to be more alert for next weeks game though as she's playing...forget I said that, she's only playing Grumpy. You take it easy on him Elsie.

I will finish off this week (ok, who cheered?) with the review of the local derby between Frediculous Biggs and Jasper. When Biggsy travelled to Jasper earlier in the season he put four goals past him with no reply so he knew Jasper would be coming at him with everything had. Unfortunately everything he had wasn't good enough and Biggsy held on for a tight 4-3 victory. Biggsy now leads the rivalry battle two games to nil and could be heard shouting ' bring it on Jasper' all around his ground.

I must end by apologising for getting the reviews to Headley a little later this week as I've not been feeling that great (yes I'm sure you really are all very sorry to hear that) but I promise to get my act together for next weeks reviews.
