Gills365 League Review: Division Two - Week 6

Last updated : 06 February 2007 By Guffie

The main news this week is that Deano loses his 100% record to Kezz.(I couldn't believe it either but I've double checked). Reports of foul play are being investigated after Kezz's very close (and dubious) 2-3 victory because of reports that the referee was seen afterwards at Kezz's birthday party looking worse for drink and holding an envelope in his hand. Other reports are saying that he was just giving Kezz her bus pass.

Franky now moves into 1st place and is the only unbeaten player in either league (has the world gone mad?) as he beat Frediculous Biggs 3-2. Biggsy must really do something about his away form as he has now not won on his travels in six games.

Birl moves into 3rd place as he completes the double over Akinbiyi beating him 3-0 earlier in the season and 0-2 this week. Aki failed to predict on both occasions and as he has not predicted in the last four weeks we have to assume he no longer wishes to be part of the league and so we will have a new player for next weeks game. Birl is now unbeaten in his last five games and is keeping the pressure on the top two.

JFC's slide into the murky depths continues as he is easily beaten 0-3 at home by Jasper who gets his first away win in this league. JFC seems to think that as he has surpassed the total number of points he received in the Odds league that he doesn't have to bother anymore. Either that or he just wishes he could play Fommt every week as that is still the only game he has won this season.

The way Fommt is playing I should think everyone wishes they could play him every week. He had an away game against Davefromkent this week and was probably thinking he may finally be getting some points because DFK is not renowned for his regular posts. However, much to Fommt's dismay, Dave did turn up and as usual when he predicts he won. Dave cruised past the person who lost to JFC 4-2. The only two chances Fommt has left of winning a game is, 1: play Akinbiyi. (Oooops too late, he's gone) 2: play against Cmc42.

Cmc was beaten AGAIN this week as she travelled to Welease Woderwick. Woders remains unbeaten at home in this league as he easily overcame the pitiful attempt by Cmc and beat her 2-0. In her last four games Cmc has failed to score in three of them. (That will teach her to sign Bas Savage).

Last Waltz is another player without a win as he allows NWBluesfan to thump him 1-4 and get only his second win in this league. That's now nine games without a win for L-W and surely his fans won't take much more of this. NWB now moves up to 14th place. (Franky must be shaking in his boots).

One place below him sits Grumpy who, after winning his first two games, pressed the self-destruct button and has now lost his last four. He lost 3-4 at home to Elsie, who should really pass on some of her wisdom to Cmc, in a hard fought game which left the ball covered in make up. (And that was just from Grumpy). Elsie now sits proudly in 5th place.

Last season's champion Spitfire is still notching up the points as he managed a 2-2 away draw with Gaz86 who slips down a place to 8th. Anything less than promotion for Spitty this season will be considered a huge embarrassment for the one-time champion. (I'll make sure of that).

Gills21st found himself unbeaten as he played host to Wilfred H this week. Wilf hadn't won on his last four travels and must have been expecting the worst It was a tough battle but Wilf managed to hold on to a 1-2 lead and put an end to Gills21st's unbeaten run. Wilf now moves up to 6th place with Gills21st one place behind him in 7th.

Apart from Akinbiyi everyone turned up this week so with the new player starting next week lets hope we get a 100% turnout (Someone please put an end to Frankys gloating).
