Gills365 League Review: Division Two - Week 7

Last updated : 20 February 2007 By Guffie

We start this week's review by welcoming Lorraine to the Second Division after she took over from the forever-absent Akinbiyi. She has a lot of ground to make up but as long as she doesn't ask Franky's advice she should be fine. Cmc42 must be really pleased to see Lorraine in the league because she played her this week and beat her 5-2. (Nice welcome for her). Cmc hasnt scored five goals since she drew with Lorraines lesser half, Franky.

As for Franky himself, well he was away to Jasper this week but was so excited about the boss joining our ranks he forgot to post his username. Jasper went on to win 3-0 but would of lost 3-4 had Franky not been so foolish. Thats the first time this season that Jasper has won two in a row. Things must be looking up.

This allowed Deano to take the top spot on goal difference after a high scoring 5-5 draw away to Spitfire. Spitty has only won one game where the opposition actually turned up and that was against Grumpy so doesnt really count.

Elsie was also on the wrong end of a 2-5 thumping as she was beaten at home by Gaz. Just like Spitty, Elsie has only won once where the opposition actually turned up and that was also against Grumpy. I can see a pattern forming here. Gaz now moves up to 6th place.

Grumpy had a tough away fixture against third placed Birl and must of been getting really upset by the fact he had lost his last four games and was probably expecting a defeat. But Grumpy being Grumpy and never being one to do whats expected of him went and beat Birl 3-6. Birls defence just stood motionless in shock as a rampant Grumpy attack just couldnt stop scoring.

'Game of the day award' goes to Wilfred H against Last Waltz. Last time they met Wilf won 5-3 but both teams were up for it this time round with Wilf showing the better form. It finished in a high scoring 6-5 victory for Wilf. Now thats not a bad scoreline seeing as two of this weeks games were void. That moves Wilf up to third place, just one point off the leaders but unfortunately leaves LW 2nd from bottom and without a win in this league. Shame he couldnt get a point for effort.

NWBluesFan had missed posting in his last two home games and hadnt won in his last three home games before that so was looking to give his fans something to cheer about as he took on Welease Woderwick. Woders has only won once away from home all season and the last time they met NWB beat him in a 6-5 thriller. It was another close game this time as well with NWB managing to hold on to his 3-2 lead.

Davefromkent keeps up his 100% record ( when he hasnt missed a post ) and beat Frediculous Biggs 3-4. Bigsy has now lost his last two games and will be hoping for an easier tie next week. Cheer up mate, you might be playing Fommt who lost for the 4th game running. Oh no, you won't be playing him as youve already played. In fact you are the only person hes beaten in this league.........and that includes JFC.

Fommt lost (again) 4-5 against Gills21st and drops down to third from bottom while Gills 21st moves up to 5th but is only behind Spitty on goal difference. But cheer up Fommt, ive got some good news. Somebody else has now lost to JFC. Hooray. Not only that but they lost at home ...3-4. But being the kind and compassionate soul that i am i wont name names ( Kezz ) as ive seen the ridicule ( Kezz ) and constant barracking ( Kezz ) it can lead to. ( Kezz ). I just couldnt be so mean. ( Kezz ). ( Think i got away with that ).

Seven games played, twelve still to go. Plenty of time yet for things to drastically change or even for Fommt to win another game, ok maybe not THAT much time left. It was a good turnout this week and if it hadnt been for an absent minded individual it would have been 100%. Well played.
