Guffie's Gills365 League Review: Round 12 - The ODDS

I was asked to look out for a game this week that was going to be a belter. It was between two old school friends, jasper_gill and frediculous_biggs. Well maybe it would have been if Jasper had paid as much attention at school as his mate, especially when it came to reading rules. I draw his attention to rule number 4 below:

YOUR MATCHLIST WILL BE DECLARED NULL AND VOID IF:

1. Your matchlist is posted on the wrong thread.

2. You do not submit your matchlist before kickoff time of the first match on the matchlist.

3. It is edited AFTER the kickoff time of the first match on the matchlist.

4. It contains anything other than the matchlist itself.

5. It contains errors, or has data missing.

So, in hindsight, putting “bring it on Biggsy” on his post probably wasn't the brightest way to proceed in his conquest. So how would the game have panned out between these two footballing giants (both hovering just above the bottom spot) had it not been for this error? Well, instead of beating him 0-4 Biggsy would still have given him a real hiding, 1-4. (I wonder if they are still mates lol)

Plenty of high scoring games again this week with fommt2 really bouncing back from a run of five games without a win by beating symongills2 away 1-6. But that was absolutely no reason to hold a firework celebration outside Symon's house on Saturday night in honour of this.

Meanwhile tedhowes had resorted to using magic bones, tea leaves and anything else he could get his hands on in an attempt to lift his ailing season. Did it help? Did it tugboats! (had to give that word a mention!). He got trounced 6-2 by a very much in-form (unbeaten in last six games) Townender. Maybe you should try magic mushrooms Ted. Townender now moves to 2nd.

But top spot is still held by (and I really hate to say this) Fred_the_Needle, who had a really close win against bottom placed jfc. He eventually scraped through 4-3, leaving jfc still without a win all season but getting closer.

Gillsalltheway still can't seem to stop letting in bucket loads of goals as he is beaten 4-5 at home by Zoidy and as a result has the only minus goal difference in the top half of the table.

Zoidy's allegations during the week of threats made in the dressing room in his match with Headley, telling him he would be thrown off the 365 site unless he lost the game, could have a hint of truth to them. Headley put five past gaz86 with no reply. Either gaz is rubbish or Zoidy could be telling the truth. Headley is now on a six match unbeaten run. Are there any others willing to come forward and substantiate these claims?

Cmc42 had a very good 5-3 home win against 2nd placed martb_90, moving cmc ever closer to the dividing line and safety.

MrGrumpy had a very close home win over coombs, no matter how much he pleads that it should have been four, the result stands at 3-2.

KFG moves up to 4th spot with a very good away win over gills21st, the 1-5 scoreline doing his goal difference the power of good.

After his almost 100% seven-goal fireworks last week Trueblue's four match winning run ends as a damp banger with a 2-2 draw with deanogills. This drops both teams down the league but still the right side of the Great Divide.

So plenty of goals this week and plenty still to play for with seven games still to play before the split. Good luck.
