Guffie's Gills365 League Review: Round 14 - The EVENS

Last updated : 07 November 2006 By Guffie

I was quite looking forward to my away game this week against NWBluesFan as he had won last week and hasn't won two games on the trot all season. Things were going well until a 90th minute, probably very dubious, penalty in his banker game. Had it not been for that I would of won 3-4 but as it was I lost 5-3. Well done NWB (said through gritted teeth). But then I saw that Wiltsy had been knocked off the top of the table and everything was right in the world again. (That will teach him to live in Swindon). Wiltsy drew 4-4 away to Elsie (which I'm sure she would be happy with) whilst GTAT destroyed Welease_Woderwick 2-5 away and moved him up to the top spot. But both Wilts and GTAT looked to have secured their place in the Premiership when the league splits after 19 games. The rest of us peasants will still have to struggle on.

Akinbiyi managed to get only his 2nd win of the season this week by beating elliottthegillsfan 4-6 away and moving him off the bottom spot, which is taken again by Last Waltz after losing 5-3 to Wilfred_h. Although Last Waltz did forget to post his banker which may have helped. That's now a six game unbeaten run for Wilfred but still leaves him in the bottom half. The same can be said for Spitfire who beat Birl 5-4 in a close game at home but is still struggling to show the sort of form that won him the title last season.

SkoobiBloo played host to Baldangel this week with both teams unbeaten in their last eight games so it was all set for a close game and so it turned out as it finished in a high scoring 4-4 draw leaving them both looking good in 3rd and 5th place respectively. Two teams on poor form just lately both played each other as Kezz met Franky. This too was a high scoring 4-4 draw but it shows the trouble in the Franky camp as he considers this a good result. Kezz didn't mind too much either as she says she prefers the company in the bottom half. (Spitty you've pulled!).

A top half of the table clash saw Markg comprehensively beat third place Jagman 6-3 at homewhile Jonhinio managed a very good 4-6 away win against 7th placed b.

Are we starting to get nervous? Five games left to play before the split and a lot of teams still trying for that top half finish although I think GTAT and Wiltsy can take it a little easier now.
