Yashin: Legendary Russian stopper
Yashin played in three World Cup finals competions with varied degrees of success, but as a master of the art of goalkeeping, he had few peers. Of the goalkeepers of the time, only England’s Gordon Banks was of a comparable standard to the great Russian.

Sadly, Yashin passed away in the mid-eighties after complications following the amputation of his leg, but he leaves behind an awesome record, which includes in excess of 270 career clean sheets and over 150 penalty saves. Without question, one of the game’s true legends.
