Shearer: The complete centre forward
The first (and fastest) player to 100 Premiership goals – and is the Premiership’s all-time leading goalscorer. In his pomp, he was the complete centre forward; fast, powerful, excellent in the air and on the deck, and most importantly of all, he could score from just about anywhere. 657 appearances have brought a stunning 365 goals to date, demonstrating his outstanding strike rate during his career.

Despite suffering to career-threatening injuries, first to his knee, then his ankle, Shearer bounced back and picked up where he left off. The injuries have deprived him of that extra yard of pace, but the big man has adapted his game perfectly and in many fans’ eyes is still England’s number one striker, despite his international retirement after Euro 2000.

A modern day footballing legend, Alan Shearer’s scoring record during a boom period in English football’s history puts him up there as one of the all-time great strikers.
